Advisory Email – Sep-Dec 2023

In the view of transparency, below is an excerpt from an advisory email I sent this month:

Merry Holidays and a Happy New Year!

It’s been a while! Here’s what I’ve been working on and some interesting resources for you.

UPDATES 🎉
Tech Yukon – I’ve been busy managing their:
Canada Digital Adoption Program

  • Supporting B2C businesses in Yukon with digital transformation, e-commerce, digital marketing, and SEO via a $5,000 grant + bespoke e-commerce advisory.

AccelerateIP

  • In partnership with New Ventures BC.
  • Providing strategic IP advisory + up to $60,000 in funding to offset the cost of working with a legal service provider.

Both of which are still open and accepting ongoing applications.

Startup Fuckup Podcast – Season 2 is out!

Firing a bad client, under pricing, and scope creep are just some of the things we discuss in this episode. Tune in to hear Jared Brookes share his experience and lessons learned getting his photography business off the ground.

Not giving campaigns enough time to succeed, the misconception that operating a purposeful business comes at the expense of reduced profit, impact storytelling, greenwashing, and inauthentic brand values are just some of the things we discuss in this episode. Chase Friedman shares his experience and lessons from transitioning his career in film to running a successful marketing agency for social impact businesses.

Book: Selling Ethically with C.A.R.E.

  • This has been a real labour of love, now on page 186. On track to complete mid-January.
  • Pending thereafter: Book cover design, editing, and formatting for a self-published Amazon release.
  • Anticipated officially release in March, just-in-time for my birthday 😉.
  • Teaser section: Connect (How to be authentically likable and build trust)
    • Tip: Don’t skim and only read the headings. The juice is in the content.

GRATITUDE 🤝

  • Ziad Sahid for keeping me busy and keeping the lights on!
  • Haresh Menon for keeping me accountable and on-track with my book.
  • Tran Tri Dung for the new opportunity to work with Ecomdy to designing their new Ecommerce-oriented program.
  • Laura Barreca for involving me again in BCIT’s Peak Leadership Series. I’ll be facilitating an Ideation + Design Thinking Workshop in early-February.
  • Chase Friedman & Jared Brooks for sharing their time and wisdom in the recent podcast episodes
  • Marcos Lee for the introduction to Channel.io’s North American team.
  • And…stepped down from my building’s strata council. Finally!
