Annual update: Not to brag (because there isn’t much to brag about), but for transparency and to share my lessons.
Financials
2023 is year-4 for ClassyNarwhal
Revenue: $57,035.83
Expenses: $14,332.03
Net Profit: $42,703.80
Not accounting for my CPP, EI, and Tax dues which will be filed in Mar 2023 (~$2,000-$5,000)
Observations
- Significant drop in revenue closed. All pending payments were cleared and I took on a FT contract with a client starting late August.
- Most of summer was a write-off with my 3-month trip back to SE Asia.
- I haven’t been as aggressive with prospecting as the FT contract has kept me busy + created cashflow stability + created more room for me to focus on writing my 2nd book.

Misc
- Toby started kindergarten! Took a while to get used to the new schedule without afterschool care, winter break, and the upcoming spring + summer break. Quite a substantial increase in costs to enroll him in camps for those breaks.
- Stepped down from strata council for my property and assisted in the transition to the new council.
- Completed engagement with 1 mentee (BCIT). Took on 2 new mentees (Futurpreneur + The Forum). 1 ongoing (The Forum).
- Restarted regular and consistent meetings with a new accountability partner.
(Un)Accomplishments
- 33 episodes published

Results are rather lacklustre and I’m currently planning on sun-setting this project to focus more on the ethical sales training approach (perhaps a new podcast series with that as a focus?)
Events/Workshops
Only hosted 1 event for the year – Generational Dinners, and all other events/workshops put on hold with priorities changing.
What’s on the horizon?
My new book, Selling Ethically: The C.A.R.E. Methodology, should be on schedule for a release date on March 8th.
The intention moving forward is to lean more heavily into sales training and coaching for do-good businesses.
