Case Studies

BizCare

BizCare is one of, if not the only for-profit entrepreneurship support organizations in Vietnam. They focus on all businesses asides from Tech, e.g. retail, consumer packaged goods, agriculture, etc. With a specific angle on supporting female entrepreneurs and social impact ventures.

I worked with them on designing and launching one of the first female entrepreneurship oriented mastermind groups in Vietnam.

FIIS at FTU

RUNWAY: Bringing Vietnam to the world

Foreign Trade University's Innovation & Incubation Space was competing amongst a crowded marketplace of other incubator/accelerators in Vietnam, their program was not clearly differentiated and they struggled with the negative associations that came with academia. Through a month-long evaluation and support project funded by SwissEP, I proposed the launch of a new program that would cement their reputation for a unique category of businesses that were looking for support to expand and export beyond Vietnam. RUNWAY: an accelerator program that would play to their unique strengths, expertise, and relationships in foreign trade.

BSSC Vietnam

Aligning activities to amplify impact

BSSC is a non-profit organization that found itself stretched thin. They manage a co-working space, ran one of the largest startup competitions in Southeast Asia: Vietnam Startup Wheel, and had an incubation program amongst many other offerings. Through intensive audits and by mapping their activities. I worked with their team to help them see how each offering could amplify one another instead of being stand-alone projects segmented by departments in their organization. Vietnam Startup Wheel would function as a marketing activity that would build brand awareness and attract people to their programs. Their programs would help companies grow. With larger teams, these companies would require space and more readily pay for their co-working membership.

Startup Academy

Designed the curriculum and content for their 2-week youth (ages 14-18) entrepreneurship bootcamp.

Spring Activator Logo

Incubator -> Accelerator -> Ecosystem Developer

Spring started out as one of Canada's first for-profit incubators. They were industry agnostic and specialized in supporting social entrepreneurs who cared about using business as a force-for-good. As a for-profit, they deliberately forfeited access to government funding for economic development initiatives. They believed it was important to truly walk the talk and serve their customers (entrepreneurs) instead of prioritizing funders. Through my 5-years at Spring. I supported their incubation program, expanded their ability to serve growing companies with acceleration programs, and eventually systematized and catalogued content to facilitate their transition into an ecosystem development organization. Through facilitating their programs, I've worked with over 500 entrepreneurs and explored various business models for incubation: co-working, licensing,  and membership subscriptions.
